MANAGEMENT SCIENCE SYMPOSIUM

The socio-economic challenges faced by South Africa and Namibia are comparable and the research interests of the two Universities collaborating in this application therefore overlap to a large extent. Both countries urgently need to address common social, economic and environmental concerns that are currently bringing significant challenges in terms of inequality, effective and accessible education, economic growth and development, macroeconomic stability in a globalized world and the expected impacts of climate change on urban, agricultural and environmental management practices. Enhanced collaboration between the two institutions can clearly bring benefit to joint research projects, the students involved and the communities that stand to benefit from the skills gained and knowledge created. The success of any policies aimed at addressing challenges will be significantly strengthened by the deepened understanding and informed policy making that emanates from advanced, collaborative research projects. It is therefore not only beneficial, but essential that collaboration between the institutions are strengthened by collaborative interventions such as the proposed conference.
